Gyeongbokgung is a famous palace in Seoul, South Korea, built in 1395. It was the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty and is known for its beautiful architecture and large grounds. The name means "Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven."
Highlights include the grand Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and the impressive Geunjeongjeon Hall. A colorful changing of the guard ceremony happens at the main gate, Gwanghwamun. Visitors can explore the palace’s buildings, gardens, and museums to learn about Korea’s history.
Despite damage and restorations over the years, including during the Japanese occupation and the Korean War, Gyeongbokgung remains an important cultural site and popular tourist attraction.
